Linky Party and Giveaway

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!  I know it is going by really fast and school will be starting soon.  I go back on August 7th...I have listed and watched everyone going on vacation to relax, etc. all summer.  It's finally my turn.  We are leaving on Saturday to go to the beach....I'm so excited!

The Teacher Wife

The Teacher Wife is hosting a fabulous Linky Party where I have to list my top 5 must have books. This, however, is turning out to be a very difficult task because I love using books in my classroom and it is hard to choose.  Here it goes

Giveaway

Is your classroom theme in monsters?  Here is a Welcome sign that I have put together to welcome my students back to school in the fall.  I printed these, cut them out, laminated and put together on ribbon to hang up.  If you would like a copy, just click on the picture.

I hope you have a great Friday!  My youngest son asked the other day how his ice cream got molded into its shape....instead of telling him how...we are off to take a tour of the Mayfield Dairy today.  I've been several times and it is just over an hour away from our house.

Sharp and Quiet

Like many other of blogging teachers out there, I got a wonderful, quiet pencil sharpener.  Now, mine was not this groovy green...its was the cool blue one.  After I took it out of the box, my 7 year old son wanted to use it.  He gathered as many pencils as he could find to sharpen.  He did let me sharpen the first one...and then he went to town sharpening.  Easy!

A few things that I loved about this pencil sharpener:
  • It is quiet.
  • It was easy for my son to use - which means my 2nd graders will be able to do it.
  • It is portable.
  • Love the blue color!
  • Pencils are very sharp.
  • Sharpened every pencil evenly.
Now, if you do not have one of these, you need to think about ordering one.

Thanks Troy for making such a great product!

Monsters and Made It Monday

Shew!! I've had a productive day.  I got up this morning and ran to school.  We found out on Friday that our principal had been assigned to a new school, so I went by to wish him luck and tell him that he will be missed.  This also gave me a chance to look in my room.  See, since I am changing classrooms I need to get in and begin moving my stuff.  I just looked at the new room today to try to get some ideas of things I needed to go ahead and get.  I hope I can get in over the next few weeks and begin moving stuff.

When I came home today this is what I did....

Here are a few things that I finished up over the weekend...

I'm linking up to Tara at 4th Grade Frolics for my very first:

To go along with the monster theme....check out the cute things I found in the Dollar Section at Target.

My hubby took me to lunch and to Hobby Lobby yesterday for my birthday.  I bought a few canvases to paint a few monsters like Amanda did.  I think they are cute...we will see how mine turn out.

Have a great weekend!  I'll be back with pictures of a few Pinterest projects I am finishing up soon.

New Class Theme and TpT Unit

Here it is Tuesday night and I'm wondering what theme I might do in my class for next year.  I keep looking for something to inspire me.  Currently, I have a monkey/jungle theme.  At my school, we have a flag hanging outside our classes to represent our theme.  I have been thinking about monsters...but where will I find a flag with a monster on it?  Anyone with any suggestions?

I just posted a classroom theme unit on TpT.  It is for those teachers who use the Americana theme or just like the colors red, white, and blue.  It includes calendar pieces, a WELCOME banner, schedule cards, name plates, table number signs, and other goodies.  Here is a picture of some of the things included...

Have you seen these CUTE paintings over at Oh Boy 4th Grade?  I am in love with them!  Well, I picked up the supplies to do one over the weekend.  I thought I would let my 7 year old son do it...today he painted the blue background and let it dry.  Then he did the sun and was laughing the entire time because he couldn't get the half circle just right.  It has now dried and we will work on the rest tomorrow.  I can't wait to see the finished product.

Happy Tuesday!

Summer Time

Okay, so I have been out of school for a week....I haven't accomplished much...I went to the aquarium with my boys on Wednesday....stayed home and relaxed all the other days :)  I am not one that stays home and does nothing.  This is the first year that I have not taught summer school and I am not sure what to do with myself.

I love to cook - just not had a lot of time to do it during school...so I have made several new dishes this week.  My hubby has been making his comments about my Martha Stewart side that I keep hidden is coming out.  My most recent favorite blog is http://thepioneerwoman.com  I think it is because I would love to be on her ranch for a few weeks.  I love places like that.  She has some really great recipes on there...check her out.  She also wrote a cute children's book that I have in my classroom...Charlie the Ranch Dog

I pray that I do not get bored.  Maybe I should start on some Pinterest ideas.  Hubby would hate to come home to that, lol.  I do plan on posting new items on TpT...when I decide to get around to working on that.

So, what are your plans for your summer vacation?
